Lack Lazuli (Derek Pedersen) is a musician, gardener, and bird enthusiast living in Boulder, CO.  The Lack Lazuli name was created while on a bird hike after first seeing and identifying an absolute sparkle of a bird called the Lazuli Bunting.  The “lack” aspect draws from the discovery that some typically migratory buntings, for some reason, decide to stay put; and that as individuals, we can try to remember to be a human on the pursuit of impeccable intent.  Lack Lazuli’s first record Hello Again, Sylvye (a lyrical folk album – voice & guitar – with vast sources of inspiration) was released in April of 2022.
